Tomorrow I start as an Interactive Engineer at Resn. I'm pretty excited. During my (almost) year freelancing I learned a lot and met some really cool people — but it has definitely had it's share of not so cool moments too.
Some of the things that I'm really looking forward to are:
- Working with other people
I worked at resn for 6 weeks late last year. I'm still not allowed to talk about the job I worked on, but all in all it was a good time. They've got some really talented guys, treat their staff really well and strive to do great work.
- Better projects
I've had a couple of
really fun (paid) projects over the last 10 months — but the majority of stuff I've done I haven't been super stoked on and won't be putting it in my portfolio. Too often I wouldn't get involved until really late in the project, everything would have to be rushed — and there wasn't the capacity or time for me to do anything special.
- An Enforced Routine
At the moment I'm kinda all over the place routine wise. I get up when I feel like it and have no set times for eating, exercising, finishing work and going to bed. Having a routine will not only be healthier but should also help me prioritize my free time.
- Personal Projects
I'll only be at resn 4 days a week. This means I can devote 1-3 days a week to work on the few projects of my own that I've started. Also (hopefully) more time for photos and music. We'll see.
There's heaps of other stuff that's going be awesome, and probably some stuff that I'll miss from freelancing too, but all in all I'm real excited about the change.
